Vote: High school football star of Week 6

Published Modified

Here's a look at the high school football players who filled the stat sheets in Week 6. Which player should be this week's star? Cast your vote below.

Jose Tapia, sr., RB, Highland

Tapia would be on this week’s list even if he hadn’t played the second half against Valley. He rushed for 283 yards and four touchdowns in the opening two quarters alone, and finished the night with 362 yards on 30 carries and those four TDs.

Gunnar Guardiola, sr., QB, Las Cruces

In the NFL, the number is 158.3. That is a perfect passer rating. Guardiola was himself perfect on Friday in a win over Organ Mountain, completing all 13 of his passes, which covered 259 yards, and five of those completions went for touchdowns.

Jahari Morehead, jr., WR, Eldorado

Morehead was a one-man wrecking crew Friday at Santa Fe. He was responsible for five touchdowns in a 53-38 win over the Demons; he caught nine passes for 170 yards and four TDs, and he also added a 75-yard rushing touchdown.

Jordan Herrera, sr., RB, Los Alamos

Herrera has been special for quite a while for the Hilltoppers, and his latest effort gets him another mention in this feature. In a 62-point night against Del Norte, Herrera rushed for 272 yards and four touchdowns, and also chipped in with a 2-point run.

Hershul Olloway Jr., jr., RB, St. Pius

Another name you’ve seen here in this space is the Sartans’ swift and frequently untouchable tailback, who added yet another 200-yard night to his career resume Friday at Silver, with four touchdowns in an impressive 20-point road win over the Colts.
