Charles "Chuck" Malagodi Chuck Malagodi of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run on his bike. He was 64 years old. Chuck is survived by his wife, Hisako Moriyama; his daughter, Angelina Junko Malagodi and son-in-law Marco Filoteo; his brother, Mark Malagodi and sister-in-law Janet Johnston; and his mother, Rose Elizabeth (Paone) Malagodi. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Charles Malagodi, Jr. Chuck dedicated his life to making this city better little by little through 25 years of service managing the City of ABQ's Outdoor Recreation Education. Chuck's work taught over 10,000 youth per year on how to safely cycle and enjoy the great outdoors. His legacy lives through his establishment of the Esperanza Bicycle Safety Education Center, contributions to Santa Fe Safe Routes to School and other programs centered at getting people outside safely. After retirement, Chuck served as a board member and project coordinator for Free Bikes 4 Kidz of New Mexico. Chuck was a devout Catholic and served as a youth minister, usher at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, and member of St. Vincent DePaul helping people in need. Chuck's passion was education, bicycling, camping, and finding scrap metal to recycle. He could always be found in his neon outfit riding the streets of Albuquerque. All he ever wanted was to leave this world a better place than when he arrived. He routinely donated his time, money, and energy to making sure the next generation would have a world they could love too. Funeral services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church (833 Arizona Street, SE, Albuquerque, NM) on Saturday, January 25, 2025, 10:30 am Rosary and 11:00 AM mass. Biking or casual clothing attire. There will be a memorial ride to Balloon Fiesta Park afterward, followed by a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to Free Bikes 4 Kidz New Mexico.
