Edward Robert Johnson Edward Robert Johnson, age 81, of Albuquerque New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 27, 1943, in Oakland, California, Ed lived a life marked by dedication, love, and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend to many. Ed is survived by his wife, Julie Johnson; two children, Craig Johnson, his spouse Liesl DeLuera, and Lori Johnson; two stepsons, John Kernodle and Holt Kernodle; his eight beloved grandchildren, Bliss Kernodle, Ashley Grisenthwaite, Alexandra DeLuera, Tyler Corlis, Ian Johnson, Michael Kernodle, Eileanor Johnson, and Elizabeth Kernodle and four great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and he found deep pride and fulfillment in seeing them grow and thrive. His family will remember him for his steady presence, his warm sense of humor, and the many life stories he shared. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cheryl Johnson, the mother of his children. Ed was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He spent most of his professional life working in the aerospace industry, retiring from Northrop Grumman. For many years he was a dedicated member of the local chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Beyond his professional life, he took great pleasure in developing his skills building model airplanes that were quite impressive. Ed was a faithful member of St. John's Cathedral where he also volunteered for many years. A service to honor Ed's life will be held on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Cathedral of St. John, 318 Silver Ave SW, Albuquerque. Family and friends are welcome to attend. The service will also be live streamed for those unable to be present.
