Marilyn Grace (Welsh) Saueressig Marilyn Grace (Welsh)
Marilyn Grace (Welsh) Saueressig Marilyn Grace (Welsh) Saueressig was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 18, 1941 to Sidney and Lilian Welsh. Marilyn died peacefully with her husband of sixty years and daughter at her side on May 2, 2025. Marilyn was the love of her husband Joe's life, as well as a dedicated mother to her two children, Tamatha Sue and David, along with her three step-children, Joy, Joe and Steve. She was a talented artist and known for her gifts in the kitchen, able to make a gourmet meal out of whatever was in the cabinet and on short notice. Marilyn grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts and was the first female in her family to graduate from college. She was part of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Class of 1963 with a major in economics. Following college, she was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force Medical Specialist Corps and accepted for an Air Force sponsored internship at St Luke's Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. It was while serving at Warner Robins, where Marilyn met her husband-to-be, Lieutenant Colonel Joe Stanley Saueressig. Marilyn separated from the Air Force so she could accompany Joe to his assignment in Tiapei, Taiwan. After two years they transferred to Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was in New Mexico that Marilyn and Joe happily resided and raised their family. Marilyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014. Though Alzheimer's took pieces of her from us, the essence of who she was never truely faded. She was kind, creative and loving. We will always hold Marilyn, our love, be it wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, in our hearts. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Joe Saueressig; her daughter, Tamatha (and William) Hilton and their children Nell, Liam and Finn; her son, David (and Molly) Saueressig and their two children Tommy and Mackenzie (and Coultin) Westcott along with their daughters Mattie and Millie, Joe H. (and Melody) Saueressig along with their daughters Mary Ella and Melissa Ann Saueressig, and Joy Ann Saueressig. Plans for her memorial service are being made for a later date so Marilyn and Joe Saueressig can be laid to rest together at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
