Rebecca J Chamblee December 11, 1936 - December 17, 2024 Just days after she got her hair done, celebrated her 88th birthday, and posed for this holiday picture, Rebecca Chamblee's full and long life ended right where she chose for that to happen, in her home. Rebecca devoted almost 30 years to a demanding career with the Air Force Special Weapons Center Contract Management Division at Kirtland Air Force base in Albuquerque. Her personal commitment and her contract expertise enabled the department to achieve its goals. Rebecca enjoyed tackling large remodeling projects. She had a knack for design, turning her houses in Albuquerque, Bosque Farms, Palomas, Elephant Butte, Cloudcroft, and Jemez into beautiful homes. She took pleasure in crafting, winning a blue ribbon at the Otero County fair for her bird house. She loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. Her indoor passions included cooking for friends and family with her dogs and cats by her side. She took pleasure in adding to her collection of Kachina dolls and boot-scooting in iconic honkey-tonks such as Blue Waters at Elephant Butte or the historic Caravan East in Albuquerque, where she sometimes toasted her full life with a cold beer or a shot of tequila. Appropriately, her last home was in Albuquerque, where her love affair with the state began, and where she spent her final years in a home nestled in the quiet foothills of the Sandia Mountains. Rebecca was born in Graball, Tennessee to Mattie Kate and Alfred Pierce. She is survived by her daughter Sherrye Butler, Son Frank Butler, daughter-in-law Rebecca, and her granddaughter Sierra Butler. As they privately celebrate her life and their memories, the family is honoring Rebecca's wishes to have no formal, public ceremony or funeral.
