Robert R. Meyer Robert R. Meyer "Bob" was called to eternal life on July 10, 2025. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in New York City, Bob began a life of service early on. He served in both the New York City Transit Police and the New York City Police Department. In 1968, he and his wife Carol, along with their daughter Theresa, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Bob joined the Albuquerque Police Department. After retiring from APD, he continued serving others in a new capacity as a security officer with the Honeywell Corporation. Before marrying Carol, his devoted wife of 59 years, Bob served in the United States Air Force as a personnel specialist, completing four years of active duty and two years in the reserves. His commitment to public service continued with 24 years in the United States Coast Guard Reserves, where he served as a port security specialist and retired with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Bob was a lifelong learner who deeply valued education. He earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts in History from St. John's University in Queens, New York; a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of Albuquerque; and a Master of Public Administration from the University of New Mexico. His love of learning enriched every chapter of his life and career. Bob is survived by his beloved wife Carol and their children: Theresa of Ruidoso, NM (granddaughter Meagan), Eric and his wife Brooke of Denver, CO (granddaughters Sydney and Lauryn), Claremarie of Rio Rancho, NM, Andrew of Albuquerque, NM and his lifelong partner Martha Hennings; grandson Michael and granddaughter Melissa Gerrard and her husband Luke), Carolyn Gallagher and her lifelong partner Sara Loewe of Castle Rock, CO. Bob and Carol made their home in Ruidoso for over 30 years, where Bob found peace and happiness among the mountains he loved, especially "his trees." Final arrangements were entrusted to New Dawn Cremations in Ruidoso, NM. A Funeral Mass will be held on August 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Eleanor's Roman Catholic Church, 140 Junction Road, Ruidoso, NM. Inurnment with full military honors will take place at Fort Stanton Veterans Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
