Steven Charles Ackerman Steven Charles Ackerman went to join his heavenly father on December 26th, 2024. He was born on December 6th, 1948 in Racine Wisconsin. He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Viola Ackerman, and his older brother Bruce Ackerman. Steve passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his sister Susan Riley her husband Dennis, his two nephews Allen and Brian, Bruce's wife Kathi Ackerman, his eldest daughter Jessica Victor with her husband Manolo and his three grandsons, Logan, Tristan, and Ethan, and his youngest daughter Kari Ackerman. Steve proudly joined the US army as a Second Lieutenant during the Vietnam war, first going overseas in the Medical Service Corps and then earning his BSN and serving as an Army Nurse. He was highly decorated and retired a Major. After retiring from the Army he continued in the medical field, providing vital medical equipment to hospitals around the country. In his downtime he greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed being on the golf course, where he cheerfully coached all accompanying him while playing under par. His fondness for sharing his joys also came to football where he was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, never missing a game on TV, except for the times he got to see them in person. He never refused someone joining him, though admittedly he would heckle anyone rooting for the wrong team, especially the Cowboys. Steve will always be remembered for his joking nature, his broad smile and 'meant for radio' deep voice while telling stories. He had an intense love for his family always attending his daughters' and grandsons' events. Illness prevented him from doing many of the things he loved in his later years, so we take comfort in his going on to tee off in a better place where his body and mind are made new. He'll be waiting for us in paradise with a spare club in hand. There will be a memorial at the Idaho Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Biose, Idaho on March 28th, 2025 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local chapter of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family.
