Tom Foucher Tom was an ides of March baby born in 1943 in Bennington, VT, to Walter & Katherine Foucher. He joined his older siblings Bud and Diane exploring the woods and streams around Bennington in an idyllic childhood (except for 12 years of Catholic school, where his lifelong friend, Mike Burke, and Tom had many stories about their time there.) After high school and a very short stint in college, he joined the Army and was in the Army Security Agency. He was in Vietnam from 1964-1965. His unit was the first "official" Army unit sent to Vietnam. Tom eventually moved to New Mexico which he referred to as "the Tropics" after growing up in Vermont. Carla and Tom met on the dance floor in 1985, married in 1986 and danced through life together with only a few missteps along the way. After Tom's retirement from Sandia National Labs, Tom and Carla discovered a mutual love of cruising. Tom was diagnosed with dementia in 2017 and pancreatic cancer in 2024, so his life became a little more complicated and in some ways a little more simple. Tom passed at home on April 19, 2025 surrounded by the love of Carla, Mary Anne, grandson Cameron, and many others from afar. Tom is survived by his wife Carla, children Lisa, Adam, Janet and Ethan, his sister Diane Leary, his special "little sister" Mary Anne, brother & sister-in-law Mel and Jo Eyberg, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews he adored. Tom was an honorable, quiet man with a sly sense of humor. He will be missed. Plans for a celebration of life at a later date are pending. If you so desire, contributions in Tom's name may be made to Paws & Stripes, 617 Truman St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 (or go to their web page). Paws and Stripes helps pets and veterans, 2 groups Tom was passionate about helping.
