National Hispanic Cultural Center Schedule

    Here is the schedule of events for the grand opening of the National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico. Events conclude at 5:40 p.m. Saturday and 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
    SATURDAY, OCT. 21
    8-9:45 a.m. Parade. Starts on Fourth and Silver SW and heads south on Fourth SW and disperses beyond the center on Bridge at Bueno Foods, which is about 500 yards from the center.
    10 a.m.-noon. Grand-opening ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Gov. Gary Johnson will give welcoming address. The Prince of Spain and other dignitaries will give brief talks. Ribbon-cutting. Mariachis will play "Las Mañanitas de Nuevo México." Many city and county officials from around New Mexico are expected to attend.
    1 p.m. Four art exhibits "Nuevo México Profundo," "La Luz," "Barelas a Través de los Años" and the art of Edward Gonzales and Patricino Barela open to the public in Intel Visual Arts and Technology Building. La Tiendita gift shop will be open.
    1 p.m. Research and Literary Arts Building opens to public
