Prize Offered for a Logo on Tourism
Journal Staff Report
The New Mexico Department of Tourism launched a contest Tuesday for a new logo to help sell the state as a visitor destination to the world.
The department is offering a prize of $5,000 for a logo design that incorporates the words "New Mexico" and "Land of Enchantment."
The tourism department wants to replace the tinwork logo now used on its stationery, publications and ads.
"We want something distinctly New Mexican, something that will serve as the state's 'brand' for years to come," said tourism Secretary Fred Peralta in a statement.
Contest entry forms can be obtained from the department's Web site at www.newmexico.org, by phone at (800) 733-6396 or at any of the department's nine visitor centers in the state.
Entries can be mailed or hand-delivered to the New Mexico Department of Tourism, Lamy Building, Logo Design Contest, 491 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, N.M. 87501.
Entries must be received by April 4; the winner will be announced April 18.
