AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE

Books on the Bosque is hosting two events this week.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, several winners of the 2025 New Mexico Book Awards contest, Ana Romero-Sanchez, Vaunda Micheaux Nelson, Korie Leigh, Laurel Goodluck and Khadijah VanBrakle, will read from and discuss their work.

At 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, New Mexico author Ruby Martinez will discuss her debut novel “An Embroidery of Souls.”

In Martinez’s fantasy novel, Jade Aguilar can stitch beauty and brilliance into existence. When her mother, the master thread speaker, goes missing, the queen orders Jade to find her. Meanwhile, Lukas Keller, a boy with a big heart, is desperate to save his family from the clutches of poverty. He gets caught up with a vicious gang and is forced to get help from a thread speaker.

Jade and Lukas form an uneasy alliance, but must cling to each other to survive.

Books on the Bosque is located at 6261 Riverside Lane Plaza NW.

AT BOOKWORKS

Award-winning science fiction writer Connie Willis will read from and sign copies of her books at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Bookworks, 4022 Rio Grande Blvd. NW.

AT COLLECTED WORKS

Collected Works is hosting two events this week.

At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, four writers will give presentations in an event titled “Gathering Voices: Stories of Healing, Creativity and Belonging.”

The four speakers are Dr. Erica Elliott, author of “From Doctor to Healer,” shares her journey from Western medicine to a more holistic path grounded in compassion and relationship; Nasario García will talk about his newly published memoir “Martineztown, 1945,” about growing up in an Albuquerque barrio; Tania Katan brings creativity into everyday spaces in her book “Creative Trespassing”; and John Macker’s poetry collection “Alchemy of Headwinds” charts the beauty and struggle of the human spirit against the winds of change.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, Julia Cameron will discuss her new book “The Daily Artist’s Way: 366 Meditations for Creative Living.”

Cameron is credited with starting a movement in 1992 that has brought creativity into the mainstream conversation — not only in the arts but also in business and in everyday life.

Her new book is an inspirational collection of daily reminders (including one day for leap year).

Each lesson contains relevant ideas culled from Cameron’s body of work, as well as powerful Artist’s Way Affirmations to help readers embody their most creative selves.

Cameron will be in conversation with Joel Fotinos. He has collaborated with Cameron on “The Artist’s Way” series and related projects.

Cameron lives in Santa Fe.

The bookstore is located at 202 Galisteo St. in Santa Fe.

IN TAOS

Two writers and an aspiring writer will share the stage at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, to read and discuss their work.

The writers are SD Youngwolf, a citizen of the Tsalagiyi Nvdagi tribe, and Susan Mihalic, author of the novel “Dark Horses” and president of the SOMOS board.

The aspiring writer is 12-year-old Zoé Dominique Rankin-Villalobos, a two-time winner of the Taos Public Library Easter Writing Contest.

The event will be held at SOMOS Salon, 108 Civic Plaza Drive in Taos.
