J.C. Cervantes to speak at two author events
AUTHOR IN ALBUQUERQUE AND IN SANTA FE
Author J.C. Cervantes of Las Cruces will discuss her new novel “The Anatomy of Magic” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Books on the Bosque in Albuquerque, and at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Collected Works in Santa Fe.
In the story, Lilian Estrada seems to have it all — an OB-GYN star on the rise, a master at balancing work with romance and part of a family of fiercely loyal and exceptional women. All of these elements are held together by a secret. Each of the Estrada women possess a rare power.
With Lilian, it’s her rare gift to manipulate memories. But not even her mystical abilities can shield her from a harrowing event at the hospital, an event that sends her power out of control.
So Lilian retreats to her family’s ancestral home in Mexico only to encounter the first love of her life, Sam, whom she never forgot.
Books on the Bosque is located at 6261 Riverside Plaza Lane NW. Collected Works is located at 202 Galisteo St., Santa Fe.

The bookstore is at 6261 Riverside Plaza Lane NW.

The quarterly magazine of the Museum of New Mexico is dedicated to telling stories about the art, history and culture of the Southwest.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, author Ariel Gore chats about her book “Rehearsals for Dying: Digressions on Love and Cancer.” It is a hopeful portrait of what it is to be diagnosed with, treated for, and living with breast cancer.
At 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, Santa Fe poet Kyce Bello talks about her book “Far Country: Poems,” which is described as a meditation on sky, climate, land and legacy. It also documents a journey through territory in which loss — of the earth, of a struggling daughter, of certainty — become a means for deepening connections and love.
Bello is a certified clinical herbalist and registered nurse who holds an interdisciplinary degree in Southwestern studies and creative writing from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Fine Arts in poetry from the Institute of American Indian Arts as a non-Native student of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent.
