Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. Monday to Bridge and La Vega, on the west side of the river, after receiving reports of shots fired, according to a news release from office spokeswoman Jayme Gonzales.

Arriving deputies found 35-year-old Luke Alvarez with "at least" one gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from injuries, Gonzales said.
