Jemez's Forest Road 376 closed in places to vehicles

Published Modified

The Santa Fe National Forest will close Forest Road 376 on the Jemez Ranger District to motorized vehicles until at least July. The seasonal closure protects wildlife during breeding season in this popular camping and recreation area.

The section, leading to San Antonio Hot Springs, runs from New Mexico Highway 126 to the trailhead. Hiking and biking are still permitted.

FR 376 southbound is open from NM 126, but is blocked at the Gilman Tunnels in both directions.

The closure aims to minimize disturbance to wildlife with low winter energy reserves. Visitors, including campers, are asked to practice responsible recreation and pack out trash.
