At its annual awards gala on Friday, the Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors, or GAAR, recognized the achievements of local real estate members who made a difference in 2024.

One of those members was Tego Venturi, who received the honor of Realtor of the Year — an award recognizing a member who contributed to the association’s and local real estate market’s success through “exceptional professionalism and leadership,” according to a news release.

“I was pretty humbled and pretty honored,” Venturi told the Journal on Monday. “It was never a goal of mine or anything. I just wanted to serve, and I wanted to help.”

Venturi, a Realtor with roughly two decades of experience, always jokes about the inopportune timing of when he decided to jump into real estate full-time.

“I say, ‘Yeah, I left my good corporate career to get into real estate in 2007,’” Venturi said. “Of course, we all know what happened in 2008. But we figured it out.”

Venturi and his wife, Tracy Venturi, lead the Albuquerque-based Venturi Realty Group. Venturi started serving on a real estate technology task force for GAAR in 2012, and he served as president of the association’s Southwest Multiple Listing Service in 2023.

Using technology and data to develop a deep understanding of the real estate market is a passion of Venturi’s.

“I’ve always been very curious to understand the market. I don’t like to go into it blind. We saw so much pain in 2008, 2009, and I just wanted to be very well informed ... so we have a better understanding of where we are in the market and we can better educate our consumers, buyers and sellers.”

Venturi said as the real estate industry keeps “chugging along,” he plans to continue helping, serving and advising in the ways he can.
