An Albuquerque economic development organization has brought a familiar face back to the Duke City.

Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance on Tuesday announced that Tim Morgan will serve as director of business development for the organization. Morgan previously worked for the New Mexico Partnership from 2021 through 2022. He started the job with AREA in early December.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to serve as director of business development for the Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance,” Morgan said in a statement. “The Albuquerque region has tremendous business development opportunities and I look forward to contributing to the organization’s success.”

In his role with AREA, Morgan will be responsible for national and international business recruitment efforts. He will report to Chad Matheson, the senior vice president of AREA, who called Morgan “a natural fit for our needs.”

Morgan had a similar job of recruiting businesses to the state when he was with the New Mexico Partnership, where he served as the vice president of economic development.

He most recently was with Highline College in Washington, where he worked as an adjunct instructor for the Hospitality and Tourism Management program.

Morgan has a bachelor’s degree in commercial sports from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in sports administration and facility management from Ohio University.

“Tim’s diverse experience in a variety of industries for economic development purposes is a great match for our external brand development and marketing initiatives underway as part of our AREA 1.0 Strategic Plan, designed to grow our business attraction pipeline,” AREA President and CEO Danielle Casey said.
