Meow Wolf to bring permanent exhibition to New York City
Meow Wolf officials on Monday announced the company would open its seventh permanent exhibition, this one in New York City.
The Santa Fe-based immersive arts and entertainment company Meow Wolf is bringing an exhibition to New York City.
Company officials announced the exhibition, which will be located at Pier 17 in the historic Seaport, at South by Southwest in Austin on Monday. Meow Wolf did not announce a name, theme or opening date for its seventh permanent museum but said in a news release those details would come at a later date.
“The energy of New York City is unlike anywhere else, and it’s the perfect place for Meow Wolf,” Meow Wolf CEO Jose Tolosa said in a statement. “This city has given the world so much groundbreaking art and culture, and as someone who has proudly called New York City home for over ten years, I’m beyond thrilled that we’re bringing something truly unique to the greatest city in the world.”
The exhibition follows the opening of its Houston location, “Radio Tave,” in October and last year’s announcement of a Los Angeles exhibition slated to open in 2026 — its fifth and sixth permanent exhibitions. It also follows mass layoffs last year, in which the company cut more than 200 workers in two separate rounds.
Meow Wolf, founded in 2008, opened its first permanent exhibition, “House of Eternal Return,” in Santa Fe in 2016. The company then opened its Las Vegas, Nevada, location, “Omega Mart,” and its Denver, Colorado, location, “Convergence Station,” in 2021. “The Real Unreal” in Grapevine, Texas, opened in 2023.
The company in the news release described New York City as a “hub for creative invention, making it a natural fit for Meow Wolf’s first East Coast exhibition.”
“New York has always been a city that thrives on reinvention, making it the perfect place for Meow Wolf’s next evolution,” said Vince Kadlubek, Meow Wolf’s co-founder and chief vision officer. “I’ve been closely involved in bringing this to life, and I couldn’t be more excited.”
Kadlubek added, “We’re creating something with a level of creative ambition and next-generation storytelling that pushes beyond anything we’ve done before — an experience that truly belongs in this city.”
