Donut Mart debuts rebrand with Northeast Heights store

Donut Mart is rolling into a new chapter as it debuts a new rebranded location and a third generation embraces the family business.

The Albuquerque doughnut staple opened its new 1,450-square-foot location at 6400 Holly NE earlier this month. The new location sets a rebrand from Donut Mart to Donut Mart Café into motion, co-owner Mahnoor Gauba recently told the Journal.

The Gauba family pioneered Donut Mart in New Mexico in 2010 after immigrating from Pakistan more than 20 years ago. Before they opened their first Donut Mart, Razzak Gauba and his two sons, Haroon and Tahir, spent their days baking doughnuts and delivering them to gas stations across New Mexico, Mahnoor Gauba said.

Gauba said her grandfather and uncle have stepped away from the business, leaving her father and mother, Haroon and Qurat Gauba, in charge. Mahnoor Gauba has been somewhat involved in the business from a young age but has taken on a greater role in the business since graduating from the University of New Mexico last year.

Gauba is spearheading the rebrand, which expands regular offerings at the new Donut Mart Café to include all-day food items such as burgers, a custom doughnut bar, matcha drinks and donut ice cream sandwiches.

“It was time to grow, and we have a lot more to offer the community,” Gauba said.

Gauba aims to open up another Donut Mart Café, currently being renovated at 6121 Paradise NW, in July. Albuquerque’s other Donut Mart locations will later be remodeled to align with the rebrand.

Gauba said she hopes to continue her family’s legacy, grow the business and give back to the community.

The new location opens at 6 a.m. daily, closing at 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
