Be Pro Be Proud New Mexico and its mobile workshop are making a pit stop at Goodwill for a community resource fair taking place this week.

The Be Pro Be Proud Resource Fair is set to happen on Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Goodwill’s San Mateo campus at 5000 San Mateo NE. The fair — a collaboration between Goodwill Industries of New Mexico, Barrett Foundation Inc. and workforce development program Be Pro Be Proud — will offer the Albuquerque community resources for employment, mental health and housing.

America’s Job Center, Animal Humane New Mexico, Associated Builders and Contractors, CNM Ingenuity, National Alliance on Mental Illness and Rio Grande Food Project are a few of the organizations that will be featured at the fair.

The fair will also feature a mobile workshop from Be Pro Be Proud, a nonprofit that launched in New Mexico in 2023 and offers resources to students and young adults interested in skilled-trade careers. The mobile workshop uses interactive simulations and virtual reality to help people learn about careers in a range of pathways.

Nina Chavez, Goodwill New Mexico’s director of government relations, told the Journal in an email that the mobile workshop is “designed to spark interest in high-paying skilled trades that are critical to New Mexico’s economy but often overlooked by traditional career paths.”

Chavez said the fair is open to all, but residents it may be most valuable to include young people exploring trade careers; job seekers looking for entry-level opportunities; people experiencing homelessness, housing instability or reentry into society; and families looking to connect with local nonprofits and resource providers.
