Hundreds of PNM customers to get electricity bill relief, thanks to Intel donation
Intel Corp. donated to PNM’s Good Neighbors Fund, which helps low-income households pay energy bills.
A recent Intel Corp. donation will help low-income households catch up on electricity bills.
The semiconductor manufacturing business received a Public Service Company of New Mexico rebate check for its Rio Rancho campus in exchange for installing energy-efficient appliances and equipment, and Intel is donating an undisclosed portion of that rebate to PNM’s Good Neighbor Fund, according to a Wednesday news release.
Intel didn’t immediately respond to a Journal request for comment on the exact amount donated.
The Good Neighbor Fund offers assistance to low-income customers struggling to pay their energy bills. Donations from PNM customers, employees and shareholders support the fund.
The donation to the Good Neighbor Fund will help more than 400 families in New Mexico, according to the news release.
“We are proud to help families who may be struggling here in New Mexico,” said Intel spokesperson Frank Gallegos. “We are committed to understanding the needs of our local communities and finding innovative ways to give back to those most vulnerable. Redirecting our rebate savings toward an important cause is the right thing to do.”
Low-income households that want to apply for help from the Good Neighbor Fund can do so in person at community agency offices, a list of which is available online at pnm.com/goodneighborfund, or at monthly pop-up events.
