Intel Corp. will host a local hiring event later this month aimed at filling positions for manufacturing technicians, as the company gets closer to completing a multi-billion-dollar expansion that will enable its Rio Rancho plant to produce new types of semiconductor technology.

The hiring event, in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions and the state Economic Development Department, will take place on July 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rio Rancho Event Center.

Job postings are already up on the NMDWS website, which shows there are 200 jobs available for manufacturing technicians with Intel. Entry-level positions range from $23.42 to $43.53 an hour, while experienced- and senior-level positions start at $49,000 and go up to $91,000.

The job fair comes as Intel works through a $3.5 billion expansion of its Rio Rancho plant, which is expected to create at least 700 high-tech jobs and is the company’s largest single investment since it began operating in the state more than 40 years ago. It also comes as the semiconductor giant hired 286 New Mexicans last year, the largest number of state residents in more than two decades.

Katie Prouty, Intel New Mexico’s site leader, said the hiring event “highlights our commitment to fostering local talent, creating job opportunities, and contributing to the economic growth of the region.”
