Latin American convention to take place later this month, early August, at Albuquerque Convention Center
The League of United Latin American Citizens is hosting its annual convention in Albuquerque later this month and through early August, according to a news release.
The convention, its 94th since the organization’s existence, will take place July 31 to Aug. 5 at the Albuquerque Convention Center and has a focus on “ the power of knowledge and the importance of community, and unity to pursue and attain social and economic justice for the country’s booming U.S. Hispanic community,” the news release stated.
The convention will feature guest speakers and workshops that will touch on jobs, education and a variety of other topics relevant to Latinos in New Mexico. The four-day event, themed “Saber es Poder,” will be headlined by Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller and New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez, who are slated to speak on day one of the convention.
“New Mexico represents the future of our country as the first minority-majority state, with nearly 100% Hispanic representation in the state Legislature and an increasingly younger population,” LULAC President Domingo Garcia said in a statement.
Registration for the convention, which will also include a career fair and health expo, is open for attendees at https://lulac.org/convention23/registration.
