Albuquerque residents can now put the lawn mower away, pull out their phone and have their grass cut with a few taps.

GreenPal, a lawn mowing app that connects homeowners with local, vetted lawn care providers, has entered the Duke City. The app launched service in Albuquerque in May.

Based in Nashville, GreenPal went live in 2015 and now operates in more than 48 states and 250 markets.

“The mindset has shifted for consumers. No longer do you want to call anybody or anything like that. You want to just hit a button and things happen,” Co-Founder Gene Caballero said.

The app allows users to list their lawn jobs along with a service date. Local, pre-screened lawn care professionals can then bid on the property and the homeowner choose who they want to do the job, based on available ratings, reviews and prices.

Afterward, the professional can upload a time-stamped photo of the completed work to the app. The homeowner can pay through the app as well.

Homeowners and lawn professionals can sign up for GreenPal for free. Caballero said GreenPal takes 5% of the job transaction and there are no upcharges or fees for the homeowner.

So far in Albuquerque, roughly 500 homeowners and 62 lawn care professionals have signed up, Caballero said. Nationally, more than 1 million homeowners and 60,000 lawn care professionals use the app, according to a news release.

“We just want to make it more convenient for homeowners to find landscaping professionals and we want to help those landscaping professionals grow their business,” Caballero said.
