It’s been a busy few years for Netflix in New Mexico. The streaming company’s growing momentum in the Land of Enchantment is now reflected on its fan website for the state.

The site, which launched in 2022, recently received a refresh that went live this week, a Netflix spokesperson shared with the Journal this week.

Dubbed “Netflix in Your Neighborhood — New Mexico,” the site is where people can go to explore films made in New Mexico and Netflix’s presence in the state through videos, maps and local resources.

Netflix spokesperson Jamil Walker said the fan site aims to bring “the excitement” of New Mexico-filmed projects “beyond the screen and into the community.”

Netflix’s two most recent New Mexico projects, “Ransom Canyon” and “Pulse,” are now featured on the site, bringing the number of projects listed on the site to 10. The refresh implemented videos in which actors from the two series — including Minka Kelly, Josh Duhamel, Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell — share their experiences filming in New Mexico.

In one of the videos, Kelly, who grew up in Albuquerque, highlights Kathy’s Carry Out as one of her favorite spots to eat in the Duke City.

Nick Maniatis, Netflix’s director of global affairs, said the goals of the site are to enhance fan experiences, contribute to local film tourism and show the value of the streaming company’s New Mexico presence.

“We have a lot invested there,” Maniatis said. “It’s a win-win, especially when they can call out a great restaurant, that restaurant gets some more business, and that’s really what it’s all about.”

The site’s list of film partners, film locations and recommended cultural sites in New Mexico was also updated in the refresh. Four new film partners — Las Vegas/San Miguel Film Commission, the city of Las Vegas, Mora County and San Miguel County — bring Netflix’s local partners to 16.

The site also added 13 new filming locations and 15 recommended cultural sites, building the list to feature over 130 local spots. Albuquerque’s Hotel Chaco and Las Vegas’ Fort Union Drive-in theater are some of the new additions.

“It’s just to give the fans an opportunity to be closer to the shows that they love. Being able to go see where certain shows were shot is a fun thing to do. It’s film tourism, and it’s something that we think is important,” Maniatis said.

Netflix entered the state with the purchase of Albuquerque Studios in 2018 and has been expanding its film operations in the state since then. The streaming company has directly invested nearly $575 million in New Mexico productions since 2019, the fan site says.
