Tow truck drivers raise awareness, memorialize BCSO sergeant killed during traffic stop crash
Tow truck drivers from central New Mexico organized a memorial to honor Bernalillo County Sheriff's Sgt. Michael Schlattman and bring awareness to New Mexico's "slow down, move over" law at the BCSO East Area Command on Sunday, Mar. 1, 2026. Schlattman died after his patrol unit was hit by a semi-trailer on the side of Interstate 40 on Monday, Feb. 23. His funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2 at the Rio Rancho Events Center.Jessica Baca/Journal
