Topo Chico pulled from some New Mexico stores amid bacterial concerns

The Coca-Cola Co. issued a recall on Topo Chico products in five states over concerns of bacterial contamination.

Approximately 40 Sam’s Club and Costco locations across New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, Nevada and Texas have pulled the 16.9-ounce glass bottle products from their shelves due to potential contamination of pseudomonas, a company spokesperson said. There have been no reported illnesses.

New Mexico houses seven Sam’s Club stores, three of which are in Albuquerque. There are also three Costco locations in the city.

Common symptoms of pseudomonas infection can include fever, itching, vomiting, sudden vision loss and more, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Customers can return products with lot numbers 11A2543, 12A2543 or 13A2541 to their place of purchase for an exchange or refund. Consumers can also call Coca-Cola at 1-800-GET-COKE.
