West Side Bubba’s 33 to open in mid-July

Bubba’s 33 is doubling its presence in Albuquerque with a new location near Cottonwood Mall.

Bubba’s 33 first opened in Albuquerque in 2014 at 4861 Pan American NE. The restaurant chain, a sister brand of Texas Roadhouse, is building a second location at 10048 Coors Bypass NW, west of the mall near Hobby Lobby.

The 8,300-square-foot restaurant broke ground in January and is expected to open in mid-July, employing roughly 200 people, according to a news release from the company.

The location is a corporate franchise led by owner-operator Greg Muns, who has lived in Albuquerque for 15 years. Muns said Bubba’s 33 on Pan American is one of the company’s top performers, prompting the need for a second location.

“The Bubba’s on the east side of town, very well received, very connected to the community, and we just wanted to provide a second location,” Muns said in an interview.

The location is currently hiring for multiple full- and part-time positions, including pizza makers, cooks, meat cutters, hosts, servers, bartenders, dishwashers and server assistants, said the news release. Muns said the establishment has hired 72 of the 200 positions as of Wednesday.

The restaurant will offer lunch and dinner, opening from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

“We hope to be able to connect with the community and be here for the community as much as they’re here for us,” Muns said.
