Cibola National Forest announces extended closures during thinning project
The Sandia Ranger Station entrance to the Cibola National Forest in Tijeras.
The Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands has issued a closure order for the Cedro 4 Project Area on the Sandia Ranger District, according to a news release.
The closures will be in effect from Jan. 12 through May 1 as crews work to thin the area south of Forest Road 462.
The closed area includes:
Roads
Forest Road 12 from its intersection with Forest Road 462, at the northern end of the closure, to its intersection with Lone Pine Trail, the southern end of the closure.
Forest Road 13 from its intersection with Forest Road 462, at the northern end of the closure, to just east of the intersection of Forest Road 13 and Cedro Peak Trail near Forest Road 252, the southern end of the closure.
Trails
Delbert’s Trail from its intersection with Chamisoso Trail, at the southern end of the closure, to its intersection with Forest Road 13, the northern end of the closure.
Mighty Mule Trail from its intersection with Forest Road 13, at the northern end of the closure, to its intersection with Rattlesnake Trail, the southern end of the closure.
Rattlesnake Trail from its intersection with Forest Road 12, at the southern end of the closure to its intersection with the Meadow Ridge Trail, the northern end of the closure.
Meadow Ridge Trail from its intersection with Forest Road 13, at the northern end of the closure, to its intersection with the Cedro Single Track Trail, the southern end of the closure.
Only authorized personnel are allowed in the area during the project, the release said. Those who go into the area without proper authorization could face a Class B misdemeanor.
