SANTA FE — Actor Jennifer Garner and former Maryland state legislator Mark Shriver made an appearance at the Legislature on Thursday morning to represent Save the Children, an international humanitarian organization.

Speaking on the Senate floor, Garner said she’s grateful to be in New Mexico. Her grandmother lived in Clovis, she said, and her aunt has lived in Portales for a long time.

Shriver thanked New Mexico lawmakers for the work they’ve done on behalf of “young kids who can’t vote, who don’t get political contributions.”

“Thank you so much for having us and thank you so much for your great investment in early childhood education and health all across New Mexico,” he said.
