Crossing guards' clothing drive extended
Crossing guards across Albuquerque will be collecting donations of new packages of children's underwear and socks through Thursday in support of Locker #505. Dubbed the "Seats & Feets" clothing drive, the drive originally was scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, but is being extended.
Crossing guards at 40 city elementary schools will accept donations of new packages of children's underwear and socks. A full list of drop-off locations can be found at www.cabq.gov/family/events/seats-feets-clothing-drive. Donations can also be dropped off at the Crossing Guard Office, located at 604 Menaul Blvd. NW 87107.
“Our (crossing) guards see over 1,000 children daily while the schools are in session,” Richard Deichsel, crossing guard division manager, said in a press release. “They learn about the children and families who need resources for proper clothing during the changing seasons and this clothing drive allows us to directly give back and help.”
