Now showing: Rio Rancho school supply donations
RIO RANCHO — The smell of popcorn and butter permeated the lobby at the Premiere 14 Movie Theater on Tuesday, as dozens of community members came through the doors with bags full of school supplies for donation.
Off to one side of the lobby, members of the Rio Rancho Police and Rio Rancho Fire departments stood next to several donation bins. This was all part of the Movies with a Cop and School Supply Drive hosted by the two departments.
People dropped off their donations and were able to see the film “Despicable Me 4” at a reduced price. The supplies will go to students in need for the upcoming school year.
“I can’t put into words what the support of the community means,” said Stewart Steele, chief of the Rio Rancho Police Department. “They’re supporting us and our younger generation.”
