Balloon Fiesta founder Sid Cutter, the designated "roadrunner" in the "Roadrunner and Coyote" race, prepares to launch from the undeveloped dirt lot at the northwest corner of Coronado Shopping Center on April 8, 1972. Unlike fiestas today, only balloon crews were allowed on the launch field.
