It’s time to say goodbye to 2023. Here are some final events to help you end it in style. See you all next year!

1Cherry on the court

The UNM Men’s Basketball team will take on the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29. Tickets start at $15, plus fees, at golobos.com. The Pit is located at 1111 University Blvd. SE.

2Book it

“Let’s Explore Albuquerque!” activity book launch is taking off from 10-11:30 a.m. at the International District Library. The first 100 kids 14 and under will receive a goodie bag along with a free copy of the book. The library is located at 7601 Central Ave. NE.

3Celebrate before sundown

The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is ringing in the new year from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 31. Enjoy New Year’s themed activities and a mesmerizing Bubble Show by Lauren Coons. The event is free and the museum is located at 9201 Balloon Museum Drive NE.

4A jazzy new year

Entourage Jazz will be at the Albuquerque Museum helping them head into 2024. It’s also the last day to catch the “O’Keeffe and Moore” exhibit. The free event runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31. The museum is located at 2000 Mountain Road NW.

5Dazzling lights

Head to Expo New Mexico and catch the final days of Winter Wonderland NM. Walk or drive-thru and enjoy the holiday lights from 6-9 p.m Friday, Dec. 29, through Sunday, Dec. 31. Tickets run $40-$90, plus fees, at eventbrite.com.

6The City Different

While most New Year’s Eve celebrations involve dropping a ball (or chile), usher in 2024 with the rise of a zia. Enjoy live music and piñon bonfires long the Santa Fe Plaza before the sun rises at midnight. Festivities begin at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31.

7Off and running

The New Mexico Runner arena soccer team will take on the El Paso Rhinos at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30. Tickets run $15-$52, plus fees, at ticketmaster.com. Saturday’s game is Rio Rancho Community Day, with all Rio Rancho residents with a photo I.D. that shows a Rio Rancho address getting in free. The Rio Rancho Events Center is located at 3001 Civic Center Circle NE.
