It is directed by Michael Dowse and written by Gary Scott Thompson and Tom O’Connor.
The film follows an undercover DEA agent and his partner as they embark on a game of cat and mouse with an audacious group of thieves: their own rebellious teenagers, who have begun robbing from a dangerous cartel using their parents’ tactics and top-secret intel.
“We’re thrilled to bring this adrenaline-fueled project to New Mexico,” says Todd Lundbohm of 828 Productions. “New Mexico is renowned for its world-class crews, and their passion and expertise are perfectly suited to tackle this project’s exciting challenges.”
828 Productions was founded in 2019 and became a New Mexico film partner in 2022.
The company has committed to investing $75 million in studio infrastructure, creating at least 100 high-paying jobs in Las Cruces and committing $350 million in production spend by 2032.
828’s filmography includes such productions as “Eddington” starring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal; “The Fallout” starring Jenna Ortega and Maddie Ziegler; and “Assassin Club” starring Henry Golding, Noomi Rapace and Daniela Melchoir.
“Trap House” is produced by Marc Goldberg and Sarah Gabriel of Signature Films, Michael Pruss and Rebecca Feuer of Scott Free Productions with Ridley Scott executive producing, Bautista and Jonathan Meisner of Bautista’s Dogbone Entertainment, and Lundbohm of 828 Productions.
The feature is financed and executive produced by Christian Mercuri’s Capstone Studios, Signature Entertainment, Creativity Media and Koala, and Ashland Hill Finance.
Amber Dodson, New Mexico Film Office director, says the production will film in and around Albuquerque.
The production will employ over 100 New Mexicans, including 60 crew members and 100 background talent.
Dogbone and Signature developed “Trap House” after working together on 2018’s actioner “Final Score,” which starred Bautista alongside Pierce Brosnan.
