Albuquerque Comic Con is a chance to get up close with actors, illustrators
Actor Tom Welling is expected to take part in Albuquerque Comic Con.
January comes around and New Mexicans know that Albuquerque Comic Con has arrived.
For the 14th year, the three-day event kicks off on Friday, Jan. 19, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
According to organizers the event kicks off from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with a sensitivity opening.
“This allows children with autism to get in and experience the convention in their own way,” says Jim Burleson, Albuquerque Comic Con founder. “The ages are from zero to 80, and it’s on the honor system, so please don’t abuse our good will. Each minor kid can be accompanied by a guardian. There will be plenty to see and do. Special programming will be developed for the community.”
At 4 p.m. the event will open to the general public.
According to Burleson, some of the guests for this year’s comic con are Christopher Lloyd, John Schneider, Tom Welling, Tom Arnold, Mitch Pileggi, Julian Richings, Booker T, Ruby Soho, comic book artists, voice actors and so many more.
There will also be actors from “Smallville,” as well as “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
“(This is) a unique event that is fun for the whole family, featuring celebrity guests, authors, vendors, local artists, cosplay contests, karaoke, dances and more,” Burleson says.
