Take in almost 100 nativity sets from across the world from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, during the annual Festival of the Nativities.

Light up the Desert

The Asombro Institute for Science Education will light up the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park with over 400 luminarias from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. The event also features free cookies and hot chocolate, and shopping at a pop-up gift shop. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5-$10. The park is located at 56501 N. Jornada Road in Las Cruces.

Bear-y interesting

Join staff from the United States Forest Service as they present stories and historic images during “Ever Changing, Ever Growing — Around the Campfire: Stories of Smokey Bear and New Mexico’s Forests,” from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 14. The focus of the presentation is to tell the lesser known stories and share how all New Mexicans are connected to the state’s forests. The Special Collections Library is located at 423 Central Ave. NE.

Seeds of hope

The Old Town Cookie Crawl leaves no crumbs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15. Buy the $10 2024 collectible cookie tin and then visit participating locations around Old Town to receive a homemade cookie. Visit albuquerqueoldtown.com for more info.

Creches in Corrales

Take in almost 100 nativity sets from across the world from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, during the annual Festival of the Nativities. The event is free at the Historic Old San Ysidro Church, 966 Old Church Road, Corrales.

Oh, little town of ...

Belen is hosting the Christmas Craft Fair on Becker Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, followed by the “Miracle on Main Street” Holiday Parade at 6 p.m. After the parade, the Belen Harvey House, 104 N. First St., is hosting the Young at Heart Choir at 7:30 p.m. The events are free to attend.

Seasonal sounds

The International District Library is hosting the Sandia Mountain Dulcimers from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, for its “Holiday Dulcimers!” performance. They will also play some seasonal favorites that you can lend your own singing voice to. The library is located at 7601 Central Ave. NE.
