AT GARCIA STREET BOOKS

The Santa Fe bookstore is honoring the late author Sallie Bingham with a celebration of her life at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Bingham, a longtime Santa Fe resident, died Aug. 6.

Besides an author, Bingham was also a playwright, philanthropist, feminist, political activist and journalist.

The event will also represent the launch of her book “How Daddy Lost His Ear and other Stories.” There will be readings from the collection. The title story won second place in the 2023 Sean O’Faolain Short Story Competition.

AT COLLECTED WORKS

Philip Connors will discuss and sign copies of his new book “The Mountain Knows the Mountain: A Fire Watch Diary” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Collected Works.

Connors was a fire watcher on a mountain in the Gila Wilderness for 14 straight summers. Then surgeries to his hips forced him to miss a summer.

He returned and promised to see the mountain with fresh eyes and keep a detailed notebook.

That promise resulted in “The Mountain Knows the Mountain.”

Collected Works is located at 202 Galisteo St. in Santa Fe.

AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE

Albuquerque performance poet Zachary Kluckman will present his new collection “When I Say Ghost, I Don’t Mean Dead” at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Books on the Bosque.

Kluckman is also an actor, youth advocate and spoken word artist. He is director of the ABQ Slam Poet Laureate Program.

The Books on the Bosque is located at 6261 Riverview Plaza Lane NW.

AT GERONIMO’S BOOKS

Don McIver, a noted Albuquerque slam poet, will perform his work at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Geronimo’s Books, 3018 Cielo Court, Suite D in Santa Fe. A former member of the ABQ Slam Team, McIver teaches at Central New Mexico Community College.

AT BEASTLY BOOKS

Alysha Rameera will sign copies of her new book “Her Soul for a Crown” at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Beastly Books, 418 Montezuma Ave., Santa Fe. The book is Rameera’s debut fantasy romance. It is based on Sri Lankan history and mythology about a woman with a talent for poison and stopping hearts.
