Reptiles, music and more: 7 events this week
Spring is starting to warm up the state (maybe a little too fast) and everything is waking up. It seems only appropriate that there are a lot of musical options this week to help put pep in your spring step.

Springing forth
The New Mexico Performing Arts Society is kicking off its spring season with romantic and contemporary chamber music for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m. The featured artists include Carla Kountoupes on violin, Sally Guenther on violin and Natasha Stojanovska on piano, with emerging artists Hyorim Kim on flute and Jerry Weimer on clarinet. The program includes works by Philippe Gaubert, Michael Heizler, Astor Piazzola and more. Tickets are $23.50-$39.50 at nmpas.org/tickets. Holy Week repertoire
Santa Fe Pro Musica will be performing a Holy Week Baroque Concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 29. The program includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Pachelbel and more. Tickets are $26.80-$105.10 at sfpromusica.org. The First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe is located at 208 Grant Ave. in Santa Fe. A free sneak preview of the performance will be held at the church at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 27.
Winning them Over
Americana duo Two Fields Over is coming to the Historic Old San Ysidro Church at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28. The pair will be joined by Philip Handmaker, Guy Ewing, Owen Travis and Darin Smith in a concert event celebrating the release of their debut album, âGrains of Verse.â Tickets are $26.67 at holdmyticket.com. The Historic Old San Ysidro Church is located at 966 Old Church Road in Corrales.
Musing aloud
Singer-songwriter Jane Siberry will be performing in New Mexico in two concert events. First, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, Siberry will perform at Chatter, 912 Third St. NW. Then, Siberry will perform at Santa Feâs Paradiso, 903 Early St., at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29. Tickets for the Albuquerque concert are $39, and $44 for the Santa Fe event, at ampconcerts.org.
Traditional roots
JUNO Award-nominated sisters Cassie and Maggie will play in Albuquerque in two free library shows. Find the duo at the Erna Fergusson Library, 3700 San Mateo Blvd. NE, at noon Monday, March 30, then later at 6 p.m. at the International District Library, 7601 Central Ave. NE. Recognizing the reptiles
The ABQ BioPark Zoo is hosting Chevron Community Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28. The event is geared toward reptile conservation and will feature an interactive wall, hands-on activities, animal care chats and more. The event is included in the price of admission, and New Mexico resident tickets are half-off while supplies last at artsandculture.cabq.gov.
Ready to POP
Doodle POP, the acclaimed, nonverbal theatrical show, is coming to The Lensic Performing Arts Center at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 29. The show uses sound effects, interactive animation and theatrical imagination, and is geared toward ages 3 and up. Tickets are $22-$28 at lensic.org. The Lensic is located at 211 W. San Francisco St. in Santa Fe.
