Balloon Fiesta fuel: 5 spots for your chile fix
With so many food options at Balloon Fiesta, it can be difficult to decide what local favorites you want to eat for breakfast. Here are five places that serve up green or red chile to give you that authentic New Mexican flavor (spoiler alert, there’s a lot of breakfast burrito options).
1) Perico's
Perico’s serves a breakfast tamale burrito with egg, potatoes, and your choice of chile. Each burrito costs $13. You can turn it into a breakfast bowl for the same flavors — all contained in a bowl instead of a burrito.
2) Blake's Lotaburger
Locals will know this spot well. Beloved Blake’s Lotaburger serves classic breakfast burritos. Each burrito comes with egg, cheese, your choice of red or green chile and potatoes all wrapped in a warm tortilla. Burritos are $14 with protein options of bacon or sausage.
3) JPZ concessions
With so many burrito options, JPZ offers a unique one: chicharrón burritos. The $14 burrito features chicharrón's — deep fried pig skins — laid in a warm tortilla and, of course, comes with a choice of red or green chile.
4) JJ's Concessions
Although there are many breakfast burritos on this list, JJ's is the only place to serve one in a southern style. This $14 burrito comes with brown gravy, sausage, potatoes and green chile.
5) Farrar's
Farrar's has one of the few non burrito related green chile snacks at the Balloon Fiesta and the only one on this list. If you're looking for a snack, Farrar's serves $9 deep fried green chile curds. The curds feature a crunchy outer coat with a cheese and green chile filing.
