IN OLD TOWN

Christopher Rodarte will sign copies of his book “La Llorona: Ghost Stories of the Southwest” at two venues in Old Town on Saturday, Oct. 26. From noon-1 p.m. Rodarte will be at The Candy Lady, 424 San Felipe St. NW, and from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Treasure House Books & Gifts, 2012 South Plaza St. NW.

The book is about La Llorona, also known as The Wailing Woman, who is perhaps the most popular and infamous ghost in Latino folklore, Rodarte said. Stories about her are told in the Southwest but also in Mexico and in South America. La Llorona is not only a ghost who frightens children, he said, but she is thought to have been a real person to many.

Rodarte was born in the North Valley. He lives in Tucson. He said his cousin Chisim Lujan, a Los Lunas artist and tattoo artist, created the cover art for the book.
