Cleats, concerts and chile: 7 events for this weekend
There’s something about Corrales that just hits different. This weekend showcases all the village has to offer with the Harvest Festival. One of the best events, in my opinion, is the pet parade, which will be “Star Wars”-themed. This is the way.
1Movie magic
The National Hispanic Cultural Center is hosting a free screening of “Bless Me, Ultima,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Rudolfo Anaya. The NHCC is located at 1701 Fourth St. SW. Visit nhccnm.org to reserve your seat.
2Mysterious and spooky
The Pacific Rim Food Park is hosting a movie night at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, with a free screening of “The Addams Family.” To register, visit holdmyticket.com. Pacific Rim is located at 6901 San Antonio Dr. NE.
3Off and running
The 19th annual Sandia Mountain Shadows Trail Run takes off from the Piedra Lisa Park on Sunday, Oct. 1. The starting gun goes off at 8:15 a.m. for the 10K, and 8:30 a.m. for the 5K group. Registration runs $25-$40, with prices increasing on race day. Piedra Lisa Park is located at 13101Menaul Blvd. NE. To register, visit irunfit.org.
4The Heart of Corrales
Head out to Corrales from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 1, for the 2023 Harvest Festival. Ride the hay wagon or enjoy music, food, art and more. Visit corralesharvestfestival.com for a schedule of event and more information.
5Pitch perfect
The Lobo Women’s Soccer team takes on the Air Force Falcons at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Tickets are $5, plus fees, at golobos.com. UNM Track & Field and Soccer Complex is located at 1800 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE.
6Let’s get chile
The 6th Chile Ristra Harvest Festival will take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. Learn to make ristras, or visit the arts and craft vendors, food trucks or more. There will also be live performances. The Dolores Huerta Gateway Park is located at 100 Isleta Blvd. SW.
