Duct Tape: Essential Gear No. 1
Duct tape can save any adventure and may even save your life.
Some things it can be used for during a trip across town or into the wild include:
- Patching clothing.
- Fixing a leaking gray-water valve (with the addition of a plastic bag).
- Taping up a header.
- Keeping a refrigerator with a broken latch securely closed and cold.
- Holding a cabinet door closed on a bumpy, gravel road.
- Creating a makeshift bandage with a paper towel.
- Extracting thorns or splinters from a person or pet.
Be sure you have two rolls in your tool kit or one in your tool kit and one under the seat. You won’t regret it.
It doesn’t have to be the ubiquitous Duck Tape brand or heavy-duty 3M or Gorilla Tape brands. Duct tape is available at stores everywhere, from a small roll at the dollar store for $1.25, to about $16 for three 50-yard rolls of top quality adhesive rescue gear.
