The fiesta coincides with celebrations of Mexico’s Independence Day, which takes place each year on Sept. 16. Attendees will have plenty of room to dance to and enjoy Mexican-style cumbia by Grupo Super Verza and Norteño music by Flamantes de Chihuahua. DJ Tony from Cuba, New Mexico, and DJ Solovino, who shares his time in El Paso and Albuquerque, will keep the music going between the live performances with cumbia, salsa, bachata, reggaeton, meringue and other Latino music genres favorites.
The event was made possible with the help of some financial support provided by Albuquerque District 2 City Councilor Joaquín Baca’s neighborhood activities funds. In-kind support will be provided by the Friends of New Mexico Film, which promotes the development of the arts of filmmaking, theater, video, art, print and other media in the state.
