CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Eric Moreno and family — Jaz Dominguez, Joshua Hults and Bill Byers — caught their limits of trout including an 18-inch rainbow trout using PowerBait at Santa Cruz Reservoir on Dec. 14.

George Torres of Stanley caught and released a 36-inch, 9.88-pound pike at Cochiti Lake using cut bait on Dec. 8.

Thomas Studer caught a 13-inch rainbow trout on the Rio Chama using a Woolly Bugger fly below Abiquiú Lake on Dec. 7.

Bill Wedelich caught 12 trout at San Juan River using bead-head nymph flies on Dec. 3.

Laz caught and released a 20-inch rainbow trout at Tingley Beach using a white egg-pattern lure on Dec. 12.

Joe Valdez and his fishing buddy, Steve Coffey, of Albuquerque, caught five trout at Quemado Lake using Garlic PowerBait on Dec. 10.

Gary Denton caught 17 trout, including a 15-inch brook trout, using flies at Bonito Lake on Dec. 7.

Streamflow on the Rio Mora near Terrero on Monday morning was 115 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Pueblo near Peñasco on Monday morning was not measured due to ice.

Streamflow on the Rio Chama below El Vado Lake on Monday morning was 100 cfs; streamflow below Abiquiú Lake on Tuesday morning was 76 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using Woolly Bugger flies below Abiquiú Lake. Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiquiú upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiquiú Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of only two trout.
