CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Carmen Garcia of Albuquerque caught a 21-inch rainbow trout at Eagle Nest Lake using a worm Nov. 11.

Carlos Hammer of Taos caught an 18-inch cutthroat trout on the Red River using a Panther Martin spinner on Nov. 12.

Jade and Mason Walters of Gallup both caught 14-inch rainbow trout at Storrie Lake using worms on Nov. 12.

Denise Collier of Hereford, Texas, caught a 27-inch, 6.7-pound walleye at Ute Lake using a white Slab Spoon on Nov. 11.

Travis O’Canna of Albuquerque caught a 6-pound largemouth bass at Cochiti Lake using a lipless crankbait on Nov. 7.

Jared Davis of Aztec caught a 5-pound smallmouth bass at Lake Farmington using a Strike King Rage Tail plastic lure on Nov. 17.

On the San Juan River, Gavin M Garcia of Albuquerque caught and released a 27-inch, 7-pound brown trout using an orange San Juan worm above Texas Hole on Nov. 10. … Bryan Andryszak of Albuquerque caught and released a 21-inch rainbow trout using a size-24, grey RS-2 fly on Nov. 9.

John Eric Frietze and Denise Johnson, both of Las Cruces, caught their limits of trout using Yellow Corn PowerBait at Glenwood Pond on Nov. 13.

Richard Coffel, Julian Lopez and Chiyoko Coffel of Albuquerque caught 26-inch, 29-inch and 21-inch catfish at Perch Lake using PowerBait mixed with sausage meat on Nov. 14.

George Torres of Stanley caught and released a 10.5-pound catfish at Santa Rosa Lake using cut bait in 40 feet of water Nov. 18.

Streamflow on the Red River below the Red River Hatchery on Monday morning was 44 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using Panther Martin spinners and salmon eggs.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande below the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday morning was 271 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using bead-head nymph flies, black leech-pattern flies, bright-colored Streamer flies, black Woolly Bugger flies and white Streamer flies.

Streamflow on the Rio Hondo near Valdez on Monday morning was 8 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Mora near Terrero on Monday morning was 5 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Pueblo near Peñasco on Monday morning was 10 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using salmon eggs in Embudo Creek.

Fishing for trout at Santa Cruz Reservoir was good using flies, Kastmaster lures and Pistol Pete spinner flies. The lake is open from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday-Monday.

Fishing for white bass was fair to good using jigging spoons and vibrating blade baits in 25-40 feet of water off main lake points. Fishing for all other species was slow. The main lake water surface temperature was in the mid-50s and the water was stained.

Northwest fishing report

Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiquiú upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiquiú Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of only two trout.
