CATCHES OF THE WEEK

James Romero of Santa Fe caught a 24-inch brown trout on the Pecos River using a worm on Sept. 21.

Eli Sanchez of Rio Rancho caught a 21-inch rainbow trout on the Red River using a nymph fly near the town of Red River on Sept. 13.

Juan Cardoza, 13, of Albuquerque caught a 12.5-inch Rio Grande cutthroat trout at Fenton Lake using Yellow PowerBait Eggs on Sept. 15.

Emilio Romero, 20, of Albuquerque caught a 22.5-inch catfish at Tingley Beach using worms on Sept. 16.

Kim Foster of Silver City caught and released an 8-pound drum using a white jig bouncing the bottom at Elephant Butte Lake on Sept. 22.

Work to replace the water line to the hatchery pond at Red River Hatchery has been completed and stocking has resumed.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande below the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday morning was 262 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using silver-and-black Panther Martin spinners and white streamer flies.

Streamflow on the Rio Hondo near Valdez on Monday morning was 22 cfs.

Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiquiú upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiquiú Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of only two trout.
