CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Wayne Garcia of Albuquerque caught and released a 39.5-inch, 15.74-pound pike at Cochiti Lake using a custom Fire Tiger Spinnerbait on Nov. 5.

Tony Arena from Las Cruces and friends caught their limits of rainbow trout using PowerBait and spinners at Bear Canyon Lake on Nov. 3.

Brian Johns caught six 24-inch, 7-pound catfish from the bank at Elephant Butte Lake using marinated garlic shrimp on Nov. 11.

Tony Arena from Las Cruces and friends caught their limits of rainbow trout using PowerBait and spinners at Lake Roberts on Nov. 2.

Northeast fishing report

Cabresto Lake had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes is closed for the season and reopens March 1.

Streamflow on the Cimarron River near Cimarron on Monday morning was 16 cubic feet per second (cfs).

Clayton Lake is closed for the season and reopens March 1.

Fishing for walleye at Conchas Lake was fair using 3-inch, white tube baits.

Costilla Creek had no reports from anglers this week.

Fishing for trout was slow at Cowles Ponds.

Fishing for trout at Coyote Creek was fair using small dry flies.

Streamflow on the Red River below the Red River Hatchery on Monday morning was 48 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using Red PowerBait near the town of Red River.

Work to replace the water line to the hatchery pond at Red River Hatchery has been completed and stocking has resumed.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande below the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday morning was 708 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Hondo near Valdez on Monday morning was 15 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Mora near Terrero on Monday morning was 42 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Pueblo near Peñasco on Monday morning was 30 cfs.

Santa Cruz Reservoir is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. through April 30. Ice fishing is not allowed.

The main lake’s water-surface temperature was in the low 60s and the water was stained.

Streamflow on the Rio Chama below El Vado Lake on Monday morning was 100 cfs; streamflow below Abiquiú Lake on Tuesday morning was 48 cfs. Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiquiú upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiquiú Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of only two trout.
