A passion for poinsettias
The Albuquerque Garden Center is hosting a Holiday Plant and Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Eventgoers can find fresh centerpieces, succulent bowls and poinsettias, and browse from over 35 arts and crafts vendors. The Albuquerque Garden Center is located at 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE.
Christmastown, New Mexico
It’s Christmas in Madrid! The festivities begin at noon Saturday, Dec. 6, with live entertainment, followed by the Community Art Show Fundraiser from 3-6 p.m. The Madrid Christmas Parade takes off down Main Street at 4 p.m., followed by the annual lighting of the town.
The ‘Metamorphosis’
The New Mexico Tech Presidential Chamber and World Music Series continues at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, with the Nomad Ensemble’s “Romantic Metamorphosis.” The program features works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn and Franz Schubert. I love a parade
The Twinkle Light Parade will be illuminating Route 66 in Nob Hill starting at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Parts of Central Avenue will close to traffic at 3 p.m. so eventgoers can shop or eat around the parade route.
Celebrating Beethoven
Chamber Music Albuquerque is bringing Joseph Lin’s “Beethoven Celebration” to the Simms Center for the Performing Arts at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $35-$50 at holdmyticket.com, and $10 students are available at the door. The Simms Center for the Performing Arts is located on the Albuquerque Academy campus, 6400 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
‘Completing the Circle’
Quintessence: A Community of Singers, along with special guests the Cibola High School chorus, will perform “Completing the Circle” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Quintessence describes the program as “a celebration of holiday traditions and the cycle of remembrance and renewal.” Tickets are $25, plus fees, at quintessence-abq.com. The St. John’s United Methodist Church is located at 2626 Arizona St. NE.
Harmony for the holidays
The Albuquerque Concert Band’s Holiday Concert is coming to the KiMo Theatre at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. Enjoy a festive program featuring a sing-along with the band. Admission is free. The KiMo Theatre is located at 423 Central Ave. NW.
