AT ALBUQUERQUE MUSEUM

Kevin Bubriski will autograph copies of his newly released book “The New Mexicans, 1981-1983” at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Albuquerque Museum. It is a follow-up to his best-selling book “Look into My Eyes: Nuevomexicanos por Vida, ’81-’83” which was a photographic documentation of Hispanic New Mexicans.

The second book includes Native Americans and Anglos living in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and various northern New Mexican villages.

Bubriski is a Guggenheim Fellow whose photographs are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art among others.

Matthew J. Martinez wrote an essay for the book. He is a former First Lt. Gov. at Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo and has researched pueblo history. The Museum of New Mexico Press published the book.

The Albuquerque Museum is located at 2000 Mountain Road NW.

AT TREASURE HOUSE BOOKS & GIFTS

Rachel Bate will sign copies of her children’s book “Hatch Chile Willie” from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Treasure House Books & Gifts, 2012 South Plaza St. NW. Bate’s sister Rebecca Jacob illustrated the book.

AT COLLECTED WORKS

Filmmaker Gay Dillingham will be in conversation with Scott Garen about the book “Dying to Know: Ram Dass and Timothy Leary — The Epic Friendship that Shaped Generations.” Dillingham made a film on which the book is based. The event will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, the authors of two books will share the stage. Nikk Alcaraz will talk about his book “Peculiar Baking: A Practical Guide to Strange Confections.” Coauthors Lisa Lucas and Debrianna Mansini will chat about their book “That Time We Ate Our Feelings: 150 Recipes for Comfort Food From the Heart.”
