Legacy celebrates one year after bringing Founders Ranch back to life
This month, Legacy Ranch is celebrating a year of new beginnings and owner Parker Tomasi said he plans to make the shooting range in Edgewood bigger than its storied past.
“We want to grow into a place where it’s more than just a shooting range, but a place for families to come and hang out, communities to gather, and where people will have a sense of belonging,” Tomasi, owner of Legacy Ranch, said.
Tomasi said Legacy Ranch plans to expand with a formal pro shop with firearm accessories and firearm sales. He also plans to expand the range capabilities to be able to host world-class instruction and formalize competition programs for sporting clays, archery, long distance and action shooting. Tomasi also hopes to have a variety of livestock for children to learn about and interact with.
“Whatever you can think of that can benefit the community and do good, we are all about it,” he said in an email. “The beautiful thing about the ranch is it’s kind of a blank canvas, whatever you can dream of, we can do it. We even produce honey on the property with our bees.”
The shooting range is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday and closed Wednesday.
Legacy Ranch is home to 17 private bays, an intermediate rifle range out to 450 yards, a 10-station archery course with faux animal targets, and a sporting clays course with various stations, simulating flight patterns of game birds.
Legacy Ranch was once known as Founders Ranch, which ceased operations in April 2021. For more than a quarter-century, Founders Ranch hosted celebrations, shooting contests and a Wild West Jubilee, according to the Mountain View Telegraph.
Tomasi is hoping to build on the history.
“We named it Legacy Ranch because that’s exactly what we are building, a legacy,” Tomasi said. “The Founders did a phenomenal job with the ranch and poured their heart and souls into this place for 20 years, and we can’t sit back and watch that go to waste.
“So many people benefited from their work and it was central to the community out here. We are taking the foundation of what they built and carrying it forward for future generations to enjoy,” he said.
Tomasi said his purpose in the Marine Corps was to serve others, and said after that calling, “I found a new purpose and calling in building Legacy and serving this community.”
